Juice Obsession: A quick look at Fuel & PULP NYC

I’ve been obsessed with fresh-pressed juice for a few years now. It all started when my aunt casually gave me her Omega Juicer. She said she didn’t use it much but thought it’d be something she could see me getting into. And oh, did I get into it.
In Manhattan, Kansas, there were no other options for fresh pressed green juice goodness. There were no juice bars, no organic cafes and no Whole Foods, so buying tons and tons of fruit and veggies and pressing them yourself was really the only way. I pressed my own juice for cleanses, for breakfast and for after yoga. It was great, but it was so dang time consuming.

So, just incase you were wondering, that’s why I’ve been so CRAZY about juice bars and cafes here in New York City! I’ve already raved about Joe & the Juice, but I wanted to share my thoughts on a few more.
I’m going to start with what is, so far, my FAVORITE juice bar in New York City. Fuel Grill & Juice Bar is a juice shop, smoothie bar and cafe that makes their juice right before your eyes. They have one of the best menus I’ve seen (image below) and the best prices in town. Their prices for small (16 oz.), medium (20 oz.) and large (24 oz.) glasses of fresh pressed juice range from $5.50 to $7.50 - unheard of. My wallet and my juice-loving soul is crazy about Fuel. Plus, with five NYC locations (I went to the Midtown West location, 112 W 38th Street), it’s easy to get to whenever you’re craving juice, which, in my case, is always.
I’ve been there two times and have tried the Iron Horse (kale, broccoli, beets, apples and carrots) and The Hulk (kale, spinach, apple, lemon and cucumber). Simple and precise, The Hulk is one of the best green juices I’ve had. They also offer wellness shots (ginger, lemon, orange, cayenne) and a Hangover Killer juice (apple, lemon, carrots, beets and ginger) that I want to give a try!

Next up for my juice review is PULP NYC. A walk-up juice bar, PULP has a huge menu out front and is the perfect place to stop by on a sunny New York City morning. This juice bar is definitely the best place to swing by for a quick juice on the go as, majority of their cold pressed juices are pre bottled daily. You don’t get that cool feeling of watching them press the juice right before your eyes, but you do get a bottle of super chilled, refreshing goodness.
Their 16 oz. bottles run for $9.99, so more expensive than Fuel, but close enough to all the other juice shops in the area. I tried the Super Green (apple, pear, kale, celery, cucumber and lemon) and it did not disappoint! I really love that PULP uses pear in many of their drinks - not many juice bars do.
They do have a few juices that they call "Live Juices" (made with their centrifugal juicer, the barista said they're blended so there may be some pulp) that you can order on the spot, and those are a bit less expensive. The Live Juice menu isn’t as extensive as the cold pressed menu, but next time I go to PULP I’m planning on trying its Green Energy (wheatgrass, celery, lemon and apple).
Oh yea, and next time I go to PULP NYC I’m going to go hungry - they also have a tremendous looking menu complete with another one of my obsessions: avocado toast.

So, there you have it, folks, two more juice bars in NYC that I love. As I find them I’ll continue posting about them! Cheers to juice bars.
